Digital payments with your smartphone
Paying with your smartphone is super easy. A big advantage: you don't even need to carry your debit or credit card or wallet. Your smartphone is enough. Or for the hipsters among us: your smartwatch.
Which apps can I use to pay digitally?
There are several apps for mobile payments:
- In Belgium, Payconiq by Bancontact is the biggest: the app is supported by many banks. This makes it the easiest way to pay in all situations: in the (local) shop or at a restaurant, but also online and among friends.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay are also available in Belgium. BNP Paribas Fortis, Fintro, ING, KBC, Bunq, N26, Revolut and Hello bank! offer both Apple Pay and Google Pay. Are you a customer at another bank? Then, you can always contact your bank to check.
How does Payconiq By Bancontact work?
IN THE SHOP
- You open the app on your smartphone.
- You scan the QR code or choose the shop where you want to pay from the list of contacts in your app: it's automatically at the top (selection is done via geolocation).
- You enter the amount to be paid and confirm the payment with your PIN or fingerprint.
- Both you and the merchant will immediately receive a payment confirmation.
ONLINE
With the app, you can also pay safely and quickly by mobile phone in any Belgian web shop that accepts the app.
Among friends
Did you pay the bill for the whole table? Bought a gift together for a colleague? Or lent money to or from someone? With Payconiq by Bancontact everyone can pay you back immediately.
FOR BILLS AND INVOICES TOO
Do you ever wonder why there is a QR code on your invoice? Because you can scan it with your smartphone. Via Payconiq by Bancontact, for example.
