In the publications below, Febelfin sets out its points of view with regard to the Banking Package. With the Banking Package, the European Commission is endeavouring to implement the Basel III standards at European level.

The rules on capital requirements are reviewed in this package. In concrete terms, this involves the review of the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR 3) and the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD 6). These dossiers are technical but very important for banks to fulfil their role as lender for the economy. A sound capital buffer allows them to provide credit for private individuals and companies, even in times of crisis. However, disproportionately high capital requirements are detrimental to financial and economic stability.
